Barbara Adams was first elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly in 2017 as the MLA for Cole Harbour-Eastern Passage and was re-elected in 2021 and 2024 for the Eastern Passage constituency. 

Before entering politics, Barbara had a distinguished career as a physiotherapist, dedicating over four decades to caring for seniors and individuals with physical disabilities. She worked in the public healthcare system until 2007, after which she transitioned to private practice. Prior to her election, she was the Clinical Director of PhysioCare at Home and managed a chronic pain program at the Atlantic Balance and Dizziness Centre. ​
 

Barbara has been actively involved in her community, serving on the boards of organizations such as CARP Nova Scotia, VON Halifax, Ocean View Continuing Care Centre, Serving Seniors Alliance, and the Eastern Passage and Area Business Association. ​
 

Throughout her career, Barbara has been committed to advocating for seniors and enhancing healthcare services in Nova Scotia. Her extensive experience in healthcare and community service continues to inform her work in government, where she strives to improve the lives of her constituents and all Nova Scotians.

Barbara Adams was first elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly in 2017 as the MLA for Cole Harbour-Eastern Passage and was re-elected in 2021 and 2024 for the Eastern Passage constituency. She currently serves as Deputy Premier, Minister of Seniors and Long-Term Care, and Minister responsible for Military Relations.
